I love Human Resources. I really do.
There are times I will make that statement to friends or acquaintances and receive odd looks. I laugh when this happens.
I love the challenges and the new ideas and most of all, I love making people happy. It may sound trite, but the look on someone’s face when they understand their health benefits, or the response of a frustrated employee who finally feels that someone is listening, or better yet, the smile on someone’s face when their achievements are recognized- those moments are why I do what I do.
Most, but not all, of my experience has been in small companies. I find that smaller companies have a greater ability to be flexible and creative. However, I am waiting for that large company that proves me wrong!
The types of industries I have worked in range from technology to staffing to healthcare. Each is quite different, with its own set of challenges. Over the years, I have found my experience, skills and personality fit best with small technology companies. Start ups, young companies, growing companies, those are my passion.
All in all, the greatest satisfaction in my career is going home at night knowing that I made at least one person’s day at least a little bit better.
